What is an education? … I believe it is the passing on of knowledge from one person to another as quoted by google wikipedia- ‘Education encompasses teaching and learning specific skills, and also something less tangible but more profound: the imparting of knowledge, good judgement and wisdom. Education has as one of its fundamental goals the imparting of culture from generation to generation.’ and I believe this to be true but what make an education a good one? 

To me a good education also good learning consists of many parts, firstly a good teacher. To be a good teacher I think that they would have to have: the right amount of knowledge about what they’re trying to teach, because yesterday on Today Tonight I found out that the standard of teacher knowledge has dropped significantly, which is appalling and now after less than a generation ago Australia was regarded as one of the smartest countries in the world, and now it is 11^th in science and 14^th in mathematics. This makes me incredible angry, that we could have slipped so far when we have all these resources at our fingertips. Oh god I’m rambling, sorry. 

Okay to have a good learning environment to me basically means to be sheltered and warm while learning, to feel safe (not like the learning conditions in places like africa). To have a kind teacher. Not some hoity-toity old person who screams at a whisper and a messy book. Who bores you senseless and if you fall asleep whacks you with a ruler.

My expectations my class and teacher this year is to pass with ‘flying colours’ and to learn something new, really that is all I expect. I just want to go into year 10 knowing something new and that I will use, and so far I have learnt a few new things.
